A practical guide to systems thinking, exploring why quick fixes fail, how patterns persist, and how small changes can reshape complex personal and social systems.
This is a very clear explanation of the idea and how to apply it. I’ll share it with others who might find it useful to help them encourage others to improve complex systems
Thanks Russell. It would be valuable to encourage everyone to learn a little about systems thinking. I plan to stay on the subject a bit longer by sharing new posts and resources.
I really liked this Hurol and think it is very useful to see the small elements in a whole (marriage, health, work patterns) and I found this really pertinent to me right now. Yes, good phrase Christopher, broad and deep thinking we all need to do!
Good to hear that you found this useful Sarah. It is remarkable that the systems theory which remains in the domain of engineers can be applied to our daily lives.
I agree, it is so important to identify the cause or causes (often interrelated) of a problem and consider a range of possible solutions. Simplistic solutions only deal with the symptoms. Knee jerk reactions often have unintended consequences. Broad and deep thinking is required for complex issues.
James, that was a very productive partnership. Our teams collaborated well and ambitiously to challenge the norm and discover new and better ways of doing this.

You nailed it Chris. What we need is more broad and deep thinking, and how understand how complex systems behave...
Great read Hurol. Brings back many memories of our work in breaking down industry-wide Insurance challenges. 👌🏻
